Update:

After a number of tournament wins in recent weeks, the in-form world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler won’t be among the field at the 2025 RBC Canadian Open, which tees off today in Toronto.

Scheffler sights set on next major

Scheffler has decided against competing in the Canadian Open, with multiple reports explaining that the American wants to focus in on his preparations for the upcoming 2025 U.S. Open.

The third major tournament of the season, the U.S. Open is to be played in Oakmont, Pennsylvania, from June 12.

Can Scheffler continue run of success?

At the Oakmont Country Club, Scheffler will be seeking a second successive major victory, having won by five shots at last month’s PGA Championship.

Having also claimed victory at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson a month ago, the 28-year-old has now won three of the last four PGA Tour events that he has entered.

Last week, Scheffler followed up his PGA Championship success with a four-stroke triumph at the Memorial Tournament - his second straight win at the event in Dublin, Ohio.

Who is the favorite at the RBC Canadian Open?

Scheffler is one of a number of big names absent from the Canadian Open at TPC Toronto, where Masters champion Rory McIlroy is the +450 favorite to scoop the $1.76 million winner’s check.

Per Oddschecker, the Northern Irishman is followed in the betting by Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg (+1400) and Canada’s Corey Conners (+2000).
