ABC News has confirmed the decision to suspend longtime correspondent Terry Moran in light of a series of social media posts that took aim at President Donald Trump and his advisor, Stephen Miller.

The move was announced on Sunday as the network took the striking decision to suspend one of its key figures. As recently as April, Moran was granted a rare Oval Office interview with the President.

Moran posted the messages shortly after midnight on Saturday night and quickly deleted them. He has not posted again or issued any public statements since. Here’s a look at what he said...

“The thing about Stephen Miller is not that he is the brains behind Trumpism,” Moran began. “Miller is a man who is richly endowed with the capacity for hatred. He’s a world-class hater.”

“You can see this just by looking at him because you can see that his hatreds are his spiritual nourishment. He eats his hate.”

Key voices within the Trump administration were quick to criticize the comments. White House press secretary Karolina Leavitt said on an appearance on Fox News on Sunday: “Hopefully this journalist will either be suspended or terminated”.

Miller, too, has passed comment on the controversy. He used it to evidence his claims that the media are explicitly out to discredit the Trump administration. Miller spoke about the “full public meltdown” in a post on X: “For decades, the privileged anchors and reporters narrating and gatekeeping our society have been radicals adopting a journalist’s pose. Terry pulled off his mask.”

The network responded with a statement from the news decision, saying: “ABC News stands for objectivity and impartiality in its news coverage and does not condone subjective personal attacks on others. The post does not reflect the views of ABC News and violated our standards — as a result, Terry Moran has been suspended pending further evaluation.”
